Rincon de La Vieja National Park, Waterfall or Nature Hike

Rincon de la Vieja National Park is located just 15 miles northeast of Liberia. The park protects more than 177 square kilometers of mostly tropical dry forest where you can find a variety of animals, such as monkeys, birds, lizards, and more.

We offer 2 different hikes at the National Park:

1. Las Pailas: (Difficulty: Easy). This is a 1 hour hike (3 km) in the forest where you will be able to see a seasonal waterfall, volcanic activity (mud pots, fumaroles), and a variety of flora, fauna and animal species.

2. La Cangreja: (Difficulty: Advanced). This is a 5 hour hike (11 km) in the forest where you will be able to see a year round waterfall, natural pool, transition from tropical dry forest to the rain forest where you can find a variety of flora, fauna and animal species.

What to bring: Hiking boots or trail shoes, comfortable clothing, insect repellant, sunblock, poncho or windbreaker, camera, bathing suit and change of clothes. This tour includes roundtrip transportation, bilingual guide, entrance fees to the park and bottled water.
